Embedding Video

Embedding a video or presentation of some sort is done by clicking on the film strip on the WYSIWYG. When embedding video, be sure that the video has closed captioning added to it for accessibility purposes. YouTube does this automatically, and we recommend using it for video hosting.

To embed a YouTube video:

  1. Go to the video, and click Share beneath the video.
  2. Next, click the Embed tab and copy the text that appears.
  3. Go back to your page in Cascade and click the film strip on the WYSIWYG.
  4. Click the Embed Code tab on the box that pops up.
  5. Paste text you copied from YouTube into the box and submit your changes.
  6. Sign into YouTube.
  7. Click the Upload button at the top of the page.
  8. Select the video you'd like to upload from your computer. You can also create a video slideshow or import a video from Google Photos.
  9. As the video is uploading you can edit both the basic information and the advanced settings of the video, and decide if you want to notify subscribers (if you uncheck this option no communication will be shared with your subscribers).
  10. Click Publish to finish uploading a public video to YouTube. If you set the video privacy setting to Private or Unlisted, just click Done to finish the upload or click Share to privately share your video.
  11. If you haven’t clicked Publish, your video won’t be viewable by other people. You can always publish your video at a later time in your Video Manager.

To add a video to YouTube itself, follow these steps:

Adding closed captioning to your YouTube video:

  1. Go to your Video Manager by clicking your account in the top right > Creator Studio > Video Manager > Videos.
  2. Next to the video you want to add captions or subtitles to, click the drop-down menu next to the Edit button.
  3. Select Subtitles and CC.
  4. Click the Add new subtitles or CC button.
  5. Choose automatic captioning
